What Coaching Is
Coaching is a partnership between Coach and Client in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the Client to maximize personal and professional potential. It is designed to facilitate the creation and development of personal, professional, or business goals and to develop and carry out a strategy or plan for achieving those goals.
Coaching is forward-focused. We work on where you are now and where you want to go.
What Coaching Is Not
Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders. Coaching is not therapy, counselling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, or medical advice. It does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease.
If you are currently working with a mental health professional, I recommend letting them know about this coaching relationship.
Coaching is not a substitute for professional advice from legal, medical, or other qualified professionals. If you need that kind of support, it's your responsibility to seek it independently.
If you're experiencing a mental health crisis, please visit jendehaan.com/mental-health-resources for support options.
Coach-in-Training Disclosure
I am completing my coaching certification through a TICC Level 2 program, which is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I am in my supervised practice hours. My coaching is reviewed by a qualified mentor as part of this training. You are receiving real coaching from someone who is actively building their practice under professional oversight.
Your Responsibilities as a Client
You are responsible for your own physical, mental, and emotional well-being, and for the decisions, choices, actions, and results that come from this coaching relationship. The Coach is not liable or responsible for any actions or inaction, or for any direct or indirect result of the coaching services provided.
You agree to communicate honestly, be open to feedback and assistance, and create the time and energy to participate fully.
Coaching can touch on different areas of your life, including work, finances, health, relationships, education, and recreation. How you handle these areas, how you incorporate what comes up in coaching, and what you choose to act on are entirely your decisions.
Sessions
Sessions are 1:1 video calls conducted over Zoom. You will select a time that is usually between 30 and 60 minutes duration (options will change as I gain hours towards certification). We will meet when you choose to schedule, there is no minimum number of sessions required.
You'll receive a Zoom link by email when you book through the scheduling system at jendehaan.com/coaching.
Fees
This coaching is offered on a sliding scale during the practice hours phase of my certification:
- $5 per session
- $10 per session
- $20 per session
Choose the rate that fits your situation. No explanation needed. If the sliding scale doesn't work for your situation, reach out and we'll figure something out.
Payment is collected through Stripe at the time of booking. If rates change, the rate in effect at the time of your booking applies.
Refunds and Cancellations
Please try to cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours notice. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged the full session rate, but I will always work with you to reschedule at a time that works for you (no charges or fees), understanding dynamic disability exists.
Confidentiality
Everything you share with me in coaching, whether spoken or documented, is confidential. I follow the ICF Code of Ethics, which you can review at coachingfederation.org/ethics.
I will not disclose your name or any information about you without your written consent, with the following exceptions:
- a) Information that was already known to me before you shared it.
- b) Information that is generally known to the public.
- c) Information obtained from a third party without any obligation of confidentiality to you.
- d) Information I am required to disclose by law, court order, or subpoena.
- e) Situations where I reasonably believe there is an imminent or likely risk of harm to you or others.
- f) Situations involving illegal activity.
Please be aware that the coaching relationship is not a legally privileged relationship (unlike medical or legal professional relationships), and communications are not protected by legal privilege.
If you have questions or concerns about confidentiality at any point, raise them with me. I'd rather talk about it than have it sit.
ICF Verification
As part of my certification process, the ICF may need to verify that coaching took place. By accepting this agreement, you consent to have the following shared with ICF staff or other parties involved in the credentialing process:
- Your name
- Your contact information
- The start and end dates of our coaching relationship
No session notes, personal details, or content from our conversations will be shared. This verification is solely to confirm the coaching relationship existed.
I need this consent for my coaching hours to count toward certification. If you'd prefer not to consent, we can discuss that before booking.
Supervision and Training
Topics from our coaching sessions may be discussed anonymously and hypothetically with my coaching supervisor, mentor, or other coaching professionals for training, supervision, evaluation, and professional development purposes. Your identity will not be disclosed in these contexts.
Privacy and Data
I collect and process your personal information (name, email, session dates, and any notes from our work together) for the purpose of providing coaching services. I handle your data in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy legislation.
For full details on how your data is collected, stored, and used, see jendehaan.com/privacy.
Session notes are stored securely and retained for three years after the end of our coaching relationship. After that period, they are deleted.
I will not use your data for marketing purposes without your separate, explicit consent.
Ending the Coaching Relationship
Either of us can end this coaching relationship at any time. No minimum commitment is required. If you'd like to formally end our work together, just let me know. You agree to pay for any sessions that have already taken place through the date of termination.
Limitation of Liability
I make no guarantees, representations, or warranties about the outcomes of coaching. In no event will the Coach be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages. The Coach's total liability under this agreement is limited to the total amount you have actually paid for coaching services.
Agreement Terms
This agreement reflects the complete understanding between Coach and Client. It supersedes any prior conversations or representations. It can be amended only with written agreement from both parties.
If any part of this agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply.
If a dispute arises that we can't resolve together, we agree to attempt mediation in good faith for up to 30 days. This agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. You hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Nanaimo B.C. for any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms.

By booking a coaching session through jendehaan.com/coaching, you confirm that you have read and agree to the terms of this agreement.
If you have questions about anything in this agreement before you book, please contact me. I'd rather you ask than wonder.
